Needles: US 2 / 2.75 mm (dpns)

Gauge: 16 sts / 2 in.

21 rows / 2 in.

Cable Pattern:

Cast on 66 sts, join on four needles (16, 17, 16, 17)

Rows (1-12) twice (6 repeats of 11 sts)

Row 1

Needles 1+2: Row 13     Needles 3+4: Row 2

- Needles 1+2: (P2, make 1, slip 2 K-wise, pass 1st slipped st over 2nd st, purl 2nd st, P2, pass 2nd st on left needle over the 1st st on left needle, purl 1st st, make 1, P3) repeat two more times

- Needles 3+4: Row 3

Continue for four rounds – Needles 1+2: purl

- Needles 3+4: pattern rows 4-7

Purl needles 1+2, turn

Start short rows on needles 1+2

Decrease 1 st each row until there are 7 dead sts on each side

Decrease 2 sts each row for two rows (9 dead sts each side)

Decrease 3 sts each row for two rows (12 dead sts each side)

Increase sts in opposite pattern: 3 sts twice, 2 sts twice, 1 st 14 times

All sts are now live

Continue with the foot – Needles 1+2: purl

- Needles 3+4: pattern rows 8-12, (1-12)x4

Needles 1+2: purl           Needles 3+4: Row 1

Needles 1+2: Row 13     Needles 3+4: Row 2

Turn

Start short rows on needles 3+4

Decrease 1 st each row until there are 7 dead sts on each side

Decrease 2 sts each row for two rows (9 dead sts each side)

Decrease 3 sts each row for two rows (12 dead sts each side)

Increase sts in opposite pattern: 3 sts twice, 2 sts twice, 1 st 14 times

All sts are now live

Use Kitchener st to sew needles 1+2 and 3+4 together (Inside out is easier)

Sew in all ends

Make second sock!

      Of course! 1 right and 1 left is refering to a cable where the knit stitch is crossed in front of the purl stitch. The right/left direction refers to the direction that the knit stitch is travelling. If you have any more questions feel free to email me at danamberman@gmail.com
