Finally I’ve gotten to the point in the semester where my next test is a final, surprisingly a happy realization. That means that one: I only have two tests left, and two: the summer is almost here. I’m really looking forward to not only not having classes, but being able to get something done. I’ve been worrying recently about how my boss sees me, i feel like I’ve been dropping the ball. I’ve been so busy with class, and so tired, and so burnt out it feels like it’s been massively affecting work. One of the main reasons that I’m looking forward to summer is that I’ll finally have time to explore DC with Ty, Alex and Will. There is so much to the city and the area around DC that I want to see. We also have to figure out where we’re going to be living for the next year or two, I would definitely like to stay in the city, but I know that it’s cheaper to live out in Virginia, and you can get more sq. feet for your money.
Recently I’ve had some issues with sock yarn addiction, trying to find good deals on ebay, and failing miserably. I found something good and ordered it, some nice spring colors. I’m not sure what I’m going to make yet, maybe some nice lace socks. I haven’t really done much lace and I feel like it’d be pretty, though I’m not sure how comfortable they would be.
Alex’s sweater is coming along nicely. i have both sides of the front, without the ribbing on it, but I think I know how to do it. The back so far is really boring, curving the bottom was mildly successful using short rows and I hope it looks good on Alex’s butt. If i had a bit more free time I could probably finish by the end of the semester, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen.

I’m not really sure what this is, but there’s just something about it that caught my eye. The architecture of the building was amazing, and reminded me so much of the cathedral from The Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett. If you haven’t read it I would definitely suggest it. It combines historical fiction, romance, tragedy and architecture all in one book (and so much more). I’ve reread this book so many times, and everytime the construction of the cathedral is so fascinating, and made even more impressive by their lack of big cranes and electric tools.
It’s not an awesome picture or anything, but we finally have proof that we exist.
After tuesday it went right back to dreary DC. But it gave me lots of indoor time to work on my sweater. I’m actually almost done, which is a relief. It’s taken waaay too long compared to how long it should have taken. I think one of my biggest hold ups is my lack of decision making. I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do after I realized that the lace would not work for the sleeves. And I couldn’t actually commit to a cowl neck until I mentioned it to someone who actually agreed that it would look nice.
I think it will actually turn out very well. And with this lack of nice weather I’ll actually be able to wear it right after I finish it! I’ve been working on it in most of my classes, and have had several people ask me what I’m making, including one of my professors. It will be nice to wear it to class and have those people see the final product (and give me lots of compliments).
